{Why I Started My Own Business}

As a little girl I watched my dad go from job to job to job. He worked what seem to be endless hours from 9-5 and I felt like I never saw him that much growing up. One Christmas when I was 12 years old my family and I drove out from California to Utah spend the holidays with my cousins. Instead of heading home after the holidays my parents decided to drive back without me and my sisters pack up our house and bring it out to Utah because my Dad was going to start a new business with my Uncle.

I learned a lesson that Christmas...when once and a lifetime opportunities present themselves you take them.

I learned a lot from my Dad. He taught me what hard work was. He showed me that you don't have to work 9-5 for someone else...if you have the right tools and it's the right time you can be the boss and make your own hours.

That's why I wanted to start my owl business...I wanted to be the boss. I had my fair share of bosses, some were good others...not so much. I was tired of working for the "man". So I wanted to step up and be the "women"! It's been hard work, and there has been a lot of sacrifice but my Dad has taught me by example how to get through all of that.

I'll be the first one to tell you...it's not easy but oh my gosh is it worth it!! Plus I got an awesome husband who loves and supports what I do! He makes it possible so I can give my time and attention to Violet Hill!

  1. Your post was sweet. I enjoyed reading it -- you're an inspiration for me as I begin the process of starting my own business. While I'm still working "for the man" I wanted to let you know about www.weprintquick.com. If you need any promotional materials such as business cards, pamphlets or flyers, postcards, etc -- we can help and at a very reasonable price. Stop by the website and "chat" (green button floating on the right side) if you have any questions! Thanks for sharing your story :).

  3. “...when once and a lifetime opportunities present themselves you take them.” – I absolutely agree with you! You really better take hold of such an opportunity and never let it go. Who knows when something like that would come again, right? Anyway, good luck with the business! I’m sure you’re going to be successful!

  4. Oh how I love your enthusiasm! Isn’t it better to be your own boss? Starting your own business is a bit scary at first, especially if you think about all the risks you’re going to take, but what is life without a little risk, right? Congratulations on the business!

  5. Your drive and determination is admirable. Some people do have to go through being an employee first to learn how to become a good employer, but I’m sure that your dad taught you everything you need to be a good boss and business owner. Just remember, it’s not just about pushing your people, it’s about pulling them with you to the top.

  6. Establishing your own business can give you unlimited income opportunities. You can make decisions on your own, work at your own pace, and earn your desired income. It’s completely different from a situation where you work as an employee for a certain company for 8 hours and earn a fixed salary. You made a good decision in establishing your own business. However there are also a number of risks to be considered, such as the financial risk. To avoid this problem, it will be a wise move to buy accounting software that can allow you to accurately track your income and expenses.

  7. “Plus I got an awesome husband who loves and supports what I do!”---That’s nice! :D That’s also one of my wonderful reasons why I incredibly push myself to look up with my business. It feels great to have your friends and loved ones show their love and support to you. It keeps you motivated to doing your very best in order for your business to get better and better every day! :D

  9. Nothing is ever truer! Starting a business means hard work, but if you have the heart and the commitment towards the business, you will succeed. There will be a few bumps and sacrifices along the road, but you shouldn’t compromise to anything less than what your business needs. Give it all your best, and the best will be given back to you.

  10. Do you know there are so many software available in the market for accounting and financing. When you shortlist those in comparison of their features, you might end up with Quicken vs QuickBooks at the end. Just visit use see which one is best for your startup.
