Violet Hill Boutique's 7 questions

Hey everybody! I'm playing 7 questions again over at Gentri Lee's blog! So go check her out. She's rad.

I'm a nerd. I don't need glasses but I wear them anyway! Don't HATE! I just love the look. And just so I'm coming off as a true hipster. I started wearing them in like the 7th grade. True story. I'm gonna have  to find that pick so I can back it up!

1. What is your favorite day of the week and why?

I love Saturdays. I drive around town searching for garage sales. I go visit my family. I feel most productive on Saturdays!

2. If you decided to change your name, what would you change it to?

When I was born my mom and dad picked out two names bionca and courtney. I'm glad they picked courtney and I use bionca as my fake name hahaha! But if I legit had to change my name I'd love to go by my middle name Elizabeth. Maybe be called Liz...I dono. Maybe I watch too much 30 Rock. I love Liz Lemon.

3. What is one product you use (it can be for anything) that you feel is a miracle worker?

Windex. Hahaha jk have you ever seen my "Big Far Greek Wedding"? I would choose tide laundry detergent. I love the smell of fresh laundry especially in a warm blanket right out of the dryer for a Sunday Nap.

4. High heels, flats, sneakers, or boots?

Sneakers. I wear my black chucks like everyday! Or my Lucha shoes. They are like Toms but better. They last longer and cheaper. Plus you can buy them through violethillboutique.com

5. You see your favorite celebrity (it can be any kid of celebrity- movie star, singer, writer, political leader, blogger) walking down the street, what do you do?

First I stop and double take. Then once I realize who it is I am paralyzed from being starstruck. Then I for like 5 mins to catch up with them and ask them for a pic on my iPhone and tell them I'm a big fan.

6. If you could pick one item to never have to pay for again, what would it be?

This one is super hard so I'm just gonna say the first few that popped in my head.

Data for my phone.

Music.

Clothes.

7. what was your favorite tv show or movie growing up?

Little Mermaid. I can quote this movie forward and backwards. I can't count how many times I've seen it! When I took my first Spanish class in college I watched it in Spanish so I could learn Spanish faster and it totally worked. But now I don't remember Spanish anymore :( maybe I should watch that movie again!

Whenever I go to the beach I always take a picture like this on the rocks. HAHAHAHAH!

At kareoke nights I KILL THIS SONG!!!!!! Seriously. Kill. I need voice lessons though.

Don't forget to enter the giveaway! It's ending Friday...

7 Questions

Here is my awkward pic. It's awkward because I really don't have a mustache.
I'm linking up to 7 questions over at Gentri Lee. This is one of my new favorite blogs!

SO here we go on the questions.

1. You are stuck somewhere you really don't want to be, do you- walk home, call a friend, or stick it out?
I would stick it out. HOPEfully I'd have my iphone to keep me company so I'd play on there for awhile...then I'd start to freak myself out and then I'd probably call a dear friend to come save my life.

2. Do you like to PLAY sports?
Do I? In High school I played Volleyball & Basketball. I used to play soccer...still kinda do for fun. I also threw the discus and the javelin in high school. I also love throwing a good frisbee around.

Please don't picture me as the huge principle from Matilda because that isn't what I look like! Remember she is the one who throws the metal balls around and was in the olyimpics or whatever.

You don't have to be massive to throw in track...I am a stout little ball of fire who could rock it!

3. Everyone has that one "different" song that they secretly love- what's yours?
It totally depends on my mood...
When I'm in a somber kindof melancholy mood I listen to this song. Keane's Bad Dream

Keane is my favorite band in the whole wide world! I'm so excited because they are coming to Utah this June and don't worry I was one of the first to pre-order my tickets so I'm for sure going!

When I'm in an awesome/happy mood I listen to this song

This song combines my two other favorite bands/singers Coldplay and Rhianna. I love Coldplay so much that I named Violet Hill Boutique after there song called Violet Hill. And Rhianna...well that girl can just rock it on so many levels she's Bad A.

These are the kind of songs I'm singing at the top of my lungs in my car while I'm driving and I get so many weird looks. So I always wave and say I if one of my fans/awkward person in the other car catches me rocking out.

4. What is one thing you feel you are really good at?
Finding hilarious videos on youtube.com. I know this might not be the best thing to be good at but it's sure to lift up your spirits if you have a bad day and you need a good laugh. The movies I find are HILARIOUS.

This one is one of my all time favorites. I laugh every time. NOT just because Maya Roudolph is the funniest person in the whole wide world. But because we have all heard singers that have song the national anthem in one of the ways she sings it. Watch it.

5. A dog is running in your direction and barking loudly- what do you do?
Jump into a bush and PRAY he can't smell my awesome perfume

ESPECIALLY if the dog looks like this.

6. Star gazing or cloud watching?
Star Gazing. I live in a part of town that is what you call...the middle of no where. So at nigh the stars are AMAZING! Like the kind of stars you see at night camping.

I didn't take this pic. But this is kinda what it looks like.

7. What time of the day do you feel the most productive?
Noonish. Because by then I'm already up and ready for the day conquering the world.

Sick...

Danger! Danger! Danger! Good thing you guys can't catch my cold through my blog I have been sick since Monday and yesterday was the worst. I wanted to die. I felt good in the morning. I got up early and went to some local yard sales...found some awesome finds. But then when I got to work I couldn't see straight or walk straight or even talk straight so I was sent home to recover. Today I'm still recovering.

I'm super bummed I wasn't able to go to the Snap Conference down at Thanksgiving Point in Utah. I almost preorder my ticket back in February and saw the price and was like well I better save up and when I got the money saved up it was sold out :( next time I'm just gonna put it on the credit card because that conference looked phenomenal!!!

So what did I learn this week? One take care of your body. Two when the opportunity is in front of you jump on it and three live and learn.

Here are some of my photos throughout the week I took on instagram! You can follow me personally @peoplecallmecourt and the store @vhboutique

{Why I Started My Own Business}

As a little girl I watched my dad go from job to job to job. He worked what seem to be endless hours from 9-5 and I felt like I never saw him that much growing up. One Christmas when I was 12 years old my family and I drove out from California to Utah spend the holidays with my cousins. Instead of heading home after the holidays my parents decided to drive back without me and my sisters pack up our house and bring it out to Utah because my Dad was going to start a new business with my Uncle.

I learned a lesson that Christmas...when once and a lifetime opportunities present themselves you take them.

I learned a lot from my Dad. He taught me what hard work was. He showed me that you don't have to work 9-5 for someone else...if you have the right tools and it's the right time you can be the boss and make your own hours.

That's why I wanted to start my owl business...I wanted to be the boss. I had my fair share of bosses, some were good others...not so much. I was tired of working for the "man". So I wanted to step up and be the "women"! It's been hard work, and there has been a lot of sacrifice but my Dad has taught me by example how to get through all of that.

I'll be the first one to tell you...it's not easy but oh my gosh is it worth it!! Plus I got an awesome husband who loves and supports what I do! He makes it possible so I can give my time and attention to Violet Hill!
